Tourist infrastructure of Morocco

Morocco's tourism infrastructure was established in the late 1980s. It includes more than 600 hotels with a total number of beds of more than 90,000. The main tourist area of the country is the southern part, the so-called “Golden Triangle”, Agadir, Marrakesh and Ouarzazate, where more than half of the industry’s resources are concentrated. Moreover, if Agadir is known as a port, then Marrakesh is a large cultural and religious center, the former capital. In 1980, the Majerelli Botanical Garden was created here, which increased the influx of tourists.
Sports occupy a large place in Morocco's tourism sector. The country has 16 thousand golf clubs that meet all modern requirements, which allows 2-3 major international tournaments to be held annually in Tangier, Rabat and Agadir. Such infrastructure can and does attract large numbers of tourists from Europe's 4.5 million golf enthusiasts, especially during the mild Moroccan winter months of November to March, when most European courses are unplayable.
Other immediate prospects for Morocco's tourism complex lie in the acquisition of new regions favorable to tourism. This applies primarily to the Cape Negro area, near the city of Tetouan, in the Mediterranean region of Morocco, where massive hotel construction is underway.
In the 21st century, according to the “Plan Azur” of King Mohammed VI, regions of Morocco began to be appropriated, where there are favorable climatic conditions for the development of tourism, but which are inaccessible due to the lack of roads.
