Several languages are spoken in Morocco, but the most common are Modern Arabic and Amazigh. Amazigh is a language that originated from Berber culture and is spoken by the majority of the population. French is the second most spoken language in Morocco. However, English is not as widely spoken in Morocco, so if you don't speak French you will likely be welcomed in for communication from time to time. A common communication problem is the expectation among Moroccans that foreigners understand French. Learning a new language can be difficult, but since French and English use the same symbols, communication won't be a problem at all. Plus, you can always show the taxi driver the map app on your phone to help you get where you're going.
