Taj Mahal - an architectural miracle

Taj Mahal - an architectural miracle

It was built by Emperor Shahjahan between 1632 and 1653 in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth to their 14th child.
This magnificent building was created by more than 20,000 workers and many masters of various arts.

The building is constructed from white marble quarried in Rajasthan, India.
Notable architectural features include domes and minarets that create a distinctive silhouette, as well as exquisite details and semi-precious stone patterns.
The architectural style combines elements of Indian, Persian and Muslim architecture. This reflects the cultural diversity of the Mughal Empire.

In 1983, the building was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The Taj Mahal is surrounded by well-kept gardens and water bodies, which further enhances the beauty of the place.
The reflection of the building in the central pool creates the famous mirror reflection of the water.

The Taj Mahal was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1983.
