Maldivian cuisine

The national cuisine is formed from the fusion of Arab and Indian cuisines. Among the most common foods are rice and fish cooked with coconut milk. Lime, chili pepper and onion give dishes a unique taste. Local Roshi bread is usually eaten with mas huni (a fish cocktail flavored with lime, chili and coconut). Various spices, coconut milk, and various sauces are also widespread. Among the national snacks, fihunu mas (fried fish with chili pepper), kememia (fried fish rolls), and kulhi borkikhaa (tender fish pie) are very popular. Among the sweets, bondi (white coconut sticks) is famous.
