Find hotels in Phuket for every style, from lively Patong to quiet Bang Tao, with island trips to Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay a short boat ride away.
Overview
Phuket is Thailand's largest island and the main gateway to the Andaman Sea, which makes it the easiest place to start a beach holiday in the country. Hotels in Phuket range from simple guesthouses in the Old Town to large beachfront resorts and private pool villas on the west coast, so it works for couples, families and groups of friends alike.
The island's west coast is a chain of sandy bays, each with its own character: Patong is busy and full of nightlife, Kata and Karon are relaxed and good for families, while Bang Tao, Surin and Kamala are calmer and more upmarket. Inland, Phuket Old Town has Sino-Portuguese shophouses, small cafes and some of the best street food on the island. Because distances are short, you can stay in one area and still explore the whole island by taxi in a day.
Phuket is also a base for the islands of the Andaman Sea, and the neighbouring province of Krabi is within easy reach by boat. Day trips by speedboat or longtail boat go to the Phi Phi Islands, the limestone karsts of Phang Nga Bay and, in the dry season, the Similan Islands for snorkelling and diving. Add Thai massages, night markets, cooking classes and spicy southern Thai curries, and it is easy to see why so many travelers from Armenia come back for a second trip.

Limestone towers rise straight out of emerald water, including the famous James Bond Island. Many tours add sea-canoeing through hidden caves and lagoons.
The huge white marble statue sits on a hilltop between Chalong and Kata, with wide views over the south of the island. Cover shoulders and knees to enter.
Walk Thalang Road and Soi Romanee, lined with colourful Sino-Portuguese shophouses, cafes and galleries. On Sunday evenings the street turns into a walking market.
A protected marine park with clear water, white sand and some of Thailand's best diving. Trips run only in the dry season, roughly from autumn to spring.
The southern tip of Phuket is the classic place to watch the sun drop into the Andaman Sea. Combine it with dinner at nearby Rawai seafood stalls.

See hotelsWhen to go
The best time to visit Phuket is the dry season from November to April, when the sea is calm, the sky is clear and boat trips to Phi Phi, Phang Nga Bay and the Similan Islands run daily. December to February is the high season, so hotel prices are at their peak and it pays to book early. From May to October the south-west monsoon brings showers, stronger waves and red flags on west-coast beaches, but also greener landscapes, fewer tourists and noticeably lower hotel prices.

Good to know
Use ride-hailing apps such as Grab or Bolt instead of street taxis and tuk-tuks, which often charge fixed and high prices.
Respect the red flags on west-coast beaches during the monsoon season: rip currents are strong and lifeguards are not on every beach.
Dress modestly at temples and at the Big Buddha, with shoulders and knees covered, and take your shoes off before entering a temple building.
Exchange money at official exchange booths in town rather than at the airport, and keep some cash for markets, street food and boat piers.
Book popular island trips and hotels for December and January in advance, and use high-factor sunscreen: the tropical sun burns quickly even on cloudy days.

Contact our teamThe dry season from November to April is the best time to visit Phuket, with calm seas, sunshine and daily boat trips to the islands. December to February is the busiest and most expensive period. May to October is the rainy season: showers are usually short, but the sea can be rough, while hotels are much cheaper and the island is quieter.
It depends on your style. Patong suits travelers who want nightlife, shopping and lots of restaurants. Kata and Karon are great for families and beach lovers. Bang Tao and Surin are quieter and more upscale, ideal for couples. Phuket Town is best for culture and food lovers on a budget, but you will need a taxi to reach the beaches.
Entry rules for Armenian citizens change from time to time, so we do not give a fixed answer here. Please check our Visa page or ask the UTours team before you book flights, and we will tell you the current requirements and documents. The same applies to travelers with other passports.
Because the flight from Yerevan takes around 12–14 hours with a connection, we recommend at least 8 nights, and ideally 10–12. That leaves time to rest after the journey, enjoy two or three beaches, and take day trips to Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay. Some travelers split their stay between a lively area and a quiet one.
Yes, Phuket is a popular family destination. Kata, Karon and the Laguna area in Bang Tao have family resorts with kids' clubs, large pools and shallow beaches in the dry season. Children also enjoy elephant sanctuaries that do not offer riding, aquariums and easy island trips. Avoid Patong if you prefer a quiet evening atmosphere.
