BC In 960, King Solomon built the First Temple on Mount Moriah, which was built before our era. In 586 it was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. Returning from Babylonian captivity, the Jews build the Second Temple, which exists for more than 500 years and was completely rebuilt by King Herod (34-7 BC). The Jerusalem Temple, which was one of the most majestic buildings of all time, is considered a symbol of Jerusalem, evidence of its greatness and power. The greatest Jewish sanctuary was completely destroyed in 70 AD by the Roman Emperor Titus (10th Roman Emperor).
Ari (Rabbi Isaac Luria Ashkenazi), founder of Luir Kabbalah (mystical-philosophical spiritual teaching), was born in Jerusalem in 1534.
