Jerusalem in the Christian era

Many events took place in Jerusalem that are described in the Bible: the suffering of Christ on Golgotha, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is why Jerusalem is considered a holy city for Christians.
In 1099 and also in 1229, European crusaders captured Jerusalem. It was they who built many churches and monasteries in the Old City associated with biblical events.
The Jerusalem Patriarchate of the Armenian Apostolic Church is located in Jerusalem.
