Alcohol is hard to find in Morocco

Religious Moroccans tend to abstain from alcohol, but the excellent wine that can be found here makes up for this. In Morocco, almost 94% of the population is Muslim, so the use of intoxicants is largely prohibited by their religion.
In Morocco, it is prohibited to sell alcohol in establishments that have a view of a mosque. This law is quite old, and as a result, most of the population does not drink alcohol. While it's fun for them to call their mint tea "Moroccan whiskey," most Moroccans avoid drinking it, at least in public.
