Museum of the History of the Resort City of Sochi (until 1980: Museum of Local Lore), educational and cultural institution, the main provincial museum of the city of Sochi, Krasnodar Territory. , Russia The building was built in 1936, it housed a school, then a children's library named after N. A. Ostrovsky.
The museum was founded on July 9, 1920 as the Sochi Regional History Museum. The basis for the creation of the museum was a collection of exhibits from the Sochi section of the Caucasus Mountains Club. Since January 1932, the museum was located in the building of the Public Council.
The museum's collections contain more than 80,000 historical materials. The exhibition area is 654.4 square meters. Among the museum exhibits: “Archaeological Monuments of Sochi”, “Nature of the Western Caucasus”, “Cosmonauts in Sochi”. The museum includes: V.V. Barsova’s house-dacha, a private house of the Black Sea Shapusugs, a branch of the tower on Mount Batareika.
