New York's Central Park is one of the largest and most famous parks in the world. This park is also the best in the world, with more than twenty-five million people visiting it every year. The park is 4 kilometers long and eight hundred meters wide. It is located in New York City Park on Manhattan Island, that is, in the very center of the city.
A competition to create a park project was announced in 1857. Manhattan workers need a vacation, a quiet place where they can forget about their problems and enjoy the beauty of nature. The program developed by Olmsted and Waugh won the competition. The park had already been opened in 1859, but since Olmsted and Vaugh's plan was enough to make it understandable, another twenty years remained. Of course, over time, the garden became modern. Playgrounds, a skating rink, and new statues appeared, but despite minor innovations, New York's Central Park remained the same as it was many years ago.
So, having dived into the past, let's return to the present and take a closer look at the details of this truly huge park, which, however, is not a building, but an architectural work of art.
