Rhodes Island consists of two parts: the old and the new. The old part of the island is especially interesting, surrounded by medieval walls with seven gates. Entering these walls, you find yourself in another world. Although the streets are now filled with souvenir shops, jewelry stores, cafes and taverns, the narrow cobbled streets, arched corridors and low-rise neighborhoods are reminiscent of the Crusader era. The most important place in the city is the Alley of the Knights, where the Hospitallers lived, and the mansion of the Grand Master at the end of the avenue.
