The Venice Carnival is an annual festival that lasts for about 10 days. It was first held in Venice in the 11th century and lasted for over 2 weeks. The tradition changed in the 18th century when the country went into decline. It started again in 1979 and now every year around this time people dress up in colorful costumes, put on Venetian masks and take to the streets, enjoy live music, participate in various events and tours.
In 2022, the Carnival took place from February 19 to March 1.
