Petrin Castle, who is also known as Petra-Chikhe or Petra-Jihiscisian, is a historical archaeological complex, which includes the citadel and old settlements. Archaeologists attribute different parts of the castle in different centuries, starting from Paidar to the late Middle Ages. In the 4th century, Berdis of the Byzantine Hustaning founded the fortress and built the temple. The castle is of strategic importance at the intersection of Georgia, Armenia, Byzantium and Persia. The Russian Turkish bloodshed of the 19th century took place here.
