The official language is Arabic. The second official language of Morocco is French. In mountainous regions, local dialects are used. Berber and Spanish are also widely spoken.

To call the country, dial the subscriber number 8-10-212. Payphones work with cards (a new type of machine, most often found in tourist areas) and coins. Cards are sold at kiosks and post offices. After 23:00, as well as on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, a reduced rate applies. There are post offices throughout the country where you can send a letter, fax or make a phone call (open from 8:30 to 12:30 and from 14:30 to 18:30).
