Ancient Greek art is chronologically divided into Homeric, Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic.
In the era of Homer (11th-9th centuries BC), painted ceramics became popular. Household vessels and dipylon jugs were created to serve as obituaries. Ornamental images are distinguished by a clear rhythm and expressive design. Clay figurines and sculptural vessels were also created in this style.
