Tourism in Mexico

Tourism in Mexico is one of the main sectors of the Mexican economy. Mexico is one of the most visited countries in the world. According to 2014 data, in terms of the number of tourists received and the volume of natural resources, Mexico ranks 10th in the world after France, the United States of America, Spain, China, Italy, Turkey, Germany, Great Britain and Russia.

Mexico attracts tourists mainly under the influence of several factors: a unique culture and a combination of folk cultures from different countries, high architectural values, Spanish harmony and high civilization.
Along with this, the warm tropical climate is an important condition for the development of tourism in the country.
The tourist season in Mexico begins in December and ends in mid-summer. But the country also receives large numbers of tourists during Easter and spring break, when the country's beaches fill with American students.
A large number of tourists come to Mexico from nearby North American countries, mainly from the United States of America and Canada. There are also tourists from many countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Ordinary citizens of Mexico prefer to spend their leisure time in their country, while the upper class prefers to spend their leisure time in Europe.
According to the 2011 Tourism Competitiveness Data, Mexico is ranked as the 43rd largest tourist destination in the world each year. Meanwhile, Mexico ranks 13th in tourism, 10th in natural resources and 19th in cultural assets and UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Obstacles to the Mexican economy include underdeveloped transport infrastructure (79th in the world), the level of medicine and healthcare (64th) and human security (128th).
